Associate and disassociate completed activities with planned workouts
When an activity is completed and uploaded automatically, Training Peaks does a reasonable but imperfect job of lining these up with planned workouts. This does not always work correctly, especially with races, so it would be handy to have and option to associate activities with planned workouts. Conversely it would be useful to be able to separate planned workouts and completed activities so that they can be associated correctly. I think of this akin to reconciliation of receipts to your bank statement. I was thinking along the lines of select an activity and a planned session and then click a 'Merge' button or something similar.
Pairing and Unpairing workouts is now available in the TrainingPeaks web-app! Thank you everyone for you feedback and patience on this feature.

Have had this issue with TP for the last 2 years

Just adding to the list of people that expect a drag and drop feature for associating workouts with plans. I have a Garmin 920XT. Strength workouts don't match, but it's been pretty good so far for run, bike and swim. I don't understand how manual matching/override didn't come as a prime requirement for this software.

New to TP, and this issue became an issue for me on day 1. Seems this is the top 1 (as in number of votes) "future opportunity" on which TP has not even started on (if I read the site correctly). Actually TP has not even commented on it. What more can customers do than voice their frustration as comments here?

I would love to see this as well. As previously mentioned strength workouts and races are particularly tricky to match up with planned workouts in TP. I'm currently copying and pasting from the completed uploaded activity into the planned workout my coach has uploaded, but this clearly isn't ideal. Some way to match the two up would be a huge plus, especially for paid users. Thanks!

I really hope they do this soon. As many others have suggested a simple drag and drop would be best.

If I do multiple sessions on my bike computer the same day, they rarely match up with the planned activities when synced, even I synch immediately it seems to have difficulty picking the right one even if it is next in the order in the calendar.
Getting red a lot, which results in extra work and is just frankly annoying since the planning part is a pay-for item.
Matching on approximate start-time, easy reassignment of data file between work-outs would help a lot.

Agree with lots of other about this, there must be a smart way of fixing this. Could we not just set a time of the planned workout to match the start of the completed workout to match them up? This would not take all that long and would save a lot of annoying messy looking missed workouts, when they are indeed not. Please fix asap! Cheers

Also a huge problem for me since I upload all kinds of training with my Garmin Edge 520 with sports type Bike as default and then manually change sports type. Therefore I also have a lot of planned workouts that will not be matched. I would also suggest being able to drag the actual workout on top of the planned workout so both the sports type, title and description will be automatically inherated from the planned workout.

Has this been resolved? I still can seem to load multiple activities from my Garmin into the 1 planned workout for the day. It's pretty annoying to see the red. I didn't see a Training Peaks rep comment on this.

This is pretty significant issue, I have a lot of red activities in the calendars, just because of poor activity matching. Mountain biking and strength workouts are not matched at all, ever.
Going in and fixing things manually every week is not really an option. Please fix this. -

When Garmin Express auto uploads workouts it's not possible to combine them with a pre-planned workout unless you connect the Garmin and upload manually.
Would it be possible to allow drag and drop of auto uploaded files to merge them with planned workouts?

With cross season here when I have ~3 planned workouts on a race day and they never match up when sync'd from my Garmin. Very annoying.

I have exactly the same problem with uploading Garmin files that come in as Other and then I change them to Strength, but can't get them to associate with the planned activity.

This always causes a problem with strength training. The file synced from Garmin does not arrive marked as a Weight training file and does not associate with the planned activity. To correct this i have to download the file from the workout, delete the synced workout and upload the file inder the planned workout.

Man, I'd love to see this!

Sometimes devices crash or they need to be restarted for some reason, creating a fragmented work out recording.
Currently, if multiple tcx files are imported to a bike training, only the distance of the first uploaded file is counted.
It would be helpful if they could be merged into one training, simply because in this use case they are.

yes, has this been done yet? Mine won't recognize the workouts and I don't want to lose all the garmin data that I can't manually enter in.. Also don't want to delete the planned workout!

Training Peaks are you fixing this? It's driving me nuts how a walk I do before my training run gets put into the wrong place.

I dont even understand why this is a user voiced feature lol. This should just be standard otherwise it largely makes training planned vs completed times useless.

In addition to this it would be nice to be a bit more proactive with this and provide an Activity Type mapping feature. SportTracks actually has this feature already. This would allow you to my the incoming activity types, from your Garmin AutoSync files to the Training Peaks equivalent beforehand then I don't have to go in and manually merge all these workouts afterwards.
