How can we improve TrainingPeaks?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.

  1. Create a customized metrics option.

    As a coach, I rely on specific data to ensure my athletes are not overtraining. It would be great to have the option to customize metrics.

        • Additional Calendar File (.ics/webcal-link) for Races

          Hi!

          Just started using Training Peaks Premium by creating an ATP and a Training Plan by Joe Friel. Providing an .ics File (Settings -> Account -> Calendar) makes very much sense to me. So thanks for that feature.

          Workouts Only...OK, but why are Races missing? After all Races are not only integral Part of my Training (therefore practically Workouts).

          So please add those Races to the .ics file, or (even better, because backwards compatible) add an additional .ics file for syncing Races.

          • Fix the Centering of the Calendar

            The calendar jumps frequently when adding a workout. Not really sure how to figure out if it will jump up or down.

              Hi,
              I have been using TrainingPeaks since it was first released in the late 90's.
              I have recently attended the TPU in Brisbane Australia and I have signed up for the online Endurance Summit.
              I have to admit I feel that the management of training plans is not quite there yet. There is no simple way to see what plan an athlete is currently on. It takes me 30min to work through every plan I have and go through the manage plan steps.
              In my case i have 80 training plans setup with 50 athletes.
              Can you please make it…

              • Consistent time representation on calendar

                Would like to see a consistent representation of time rather than distance on the top line in calender for completed workouts. Currently future workouts show planned time as the first data field, but completed workouts show distance in the first data field.

                When planning workouts it is confusing when looking at prior week's workouts as sometimes the calendar shows complete time and sometimes distance. This is especially true in compact mode as complete time is not visible.

                It would make it much easier if completed time was the main metrics or at least user selectable.

                • Add a Pop-Up window with the workout description when hovering the mouse pointer over workouts in the Library and Dual Calendar mode

                  When we grab workouts from the workout library or use the Dual Calendar, it would save a lot of time if we could hover the mouse over a workout to see the description in a pop-up window. I can't see any of the descriptions unless I click on them which makes it very time consuming and frustrating. To make it worse, when I click on a workout in the Dual Calendar, I can only see part of the description unless I close it and re-open it. And when I close it, it asks me if I'm sure I want to…

                    Rowing: Yes rowing is a sport in TrainingPeaks' arsenal, but not well catered for at present. Here are a few things that would make it better:
                    Pace in time per 500 metres rather than time per 100 metres and how about adding an extra significant figure there while you're at it. Yes, that 0.1 s is relevant to rowers (especially on ergos). Also the ability to select pieces and take a closer look is very important.

                    Ergos (Indoor Rowing, eg Concept 2) needs to be a separate activity type so that ergo data can be isolated from on water data…

                    • Ability to use CTRL to select non continuous days

                      I notice I can't use CTRL to select multiple non-continuous days in the new version. This is a huge productivity killer for me (I like to select various days out of plans and apply them to a client, or, apply a plan to a client, and, e.g. select and delete all bike days, then select the bike days from a different plan and apply to the client)

                        • Make the auto save 'feature' of post activity comments from athlete and coach to be longer than the current 1 minute

                          No other questions, but I do have a request.
                          To recap:
                          I originally wrote to you about the auto save function on the post activity comments. You came back to me and said its a feature so you don't lose comments if the Internet connection is sporadic. I advised this is a problem IMO and for my work flow if it is set to 1 min because I have to rush my thoughts/pre-prepare them/keep typing the space bar whilst I think so that the comment doesn't auto populate.
                          Could you guys possibly consider extending the time limit? Or…

                          • Add ability to load ATP side to calendar view (like 2 calendars in the old TP)

                            As a coach I'm constantly discussing past & future workouts based on their past & upcoming events. Currently I use a google spreadsheet loaded on a second monitor to work simultaneously on their calendar & ATP while talking to athlete. It would be great if the newly added ATP could be loaded side to their calendar. Thanks.

                            • Offer a chart showing how my CTL is made up from different activity types

                              It would be great to be able to see on 1 chart what the make up of my current CTL is, either by individual activity type or by groups. Either as a staked line over time or as a Pie.

                                  It would be great to be able to download .kml files of workouts with the new TrainingPeaks. Especially since users will no longer be able to create routes on TrainingPeaks, being able to download the .kml files of workouts would allow users to create routes on Google maps.

                                      This is on our list of things we want to do. We will be adding a few training plans related features to our mobile apps in Q3, but they will be athlete centric. This specific feature will probably happen sometime after that.

                                    • Allow different HR zones for different activity types in WKO+

                                      My HR zones are different for biking versus running. I think most athletes see that same phenomenon. It would be helpful to be able to specify different HR zones for different activity types. Perhaps have a default HR zones with the possibility of overriding for specific categories of activities.                                         • Is there a way to push out reminders/achievements to keep motivation up? Like identifying breakthrough training sessions?

                                          Some sort of push notification to subscribers (much like threshold notification or FTP notification changes) when an athlete boosts training (breakthrough). Perhaps it is an all time high on the PMC report regarding CTL/ATL. Some sort of notification for breakthrough distance or time in sport.
