EXTERNAL: Garmin integration
Being able to upload data directly to Garmin and have metrics (training load, vo2 etc) calculated as per the other online platforms (TrainerRoad, Zwift etc)
Many thanks for your suggestion and support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
I'm delighted to say that the latest release (v0.4.38) now fully supports the automatic synchronisation of rides to Garmin Connect.
If you're already using Garmin and TrainingPeaks together, you'll see a quick prompt on your first login asking you to confirm the new connection to Virtual. All other users can link things up at any time by going to the Profile / Connected Accounts menu and clicking on the big "Connect" button next to the Garmin logo.

Hope you move forward asap this sync issue. To-date I have to pay to RunGap app as they sync my TPV workout recorded in Strava to Garmin… and that’s not perfect because then I have a duplicated in TP that already synced from TPV. I know that you have to find out all things related to Garmin API and so on but please, here is the people writing but I have many friends quitting from TPV just for this reason and coming back to MyWhoosh or Zwift. Many thanks!

As soon as Garmin integration and metrics are fully available like it is in Zwift I will jump ship from Zwift to TP Virtual in a heartbeat. Without Garmin integration it is a total dealbreaker for me.

Hi I am new to TP and TP virtual. I believe that I have set up to allow my TP rides to appear in Garmin connect. My workouts synch from TP to Garmin.
My outdoor rides from TP also appear in Garmin but my virtual rides don't appear. Is this a setting that I have incorrect or something TP virtual needs to fix? I am enjoying TP and TP virtual. At the moment I have the 14 day trial, as long as I like it, I will subscribe to premium -

Please allow TP Virtual to automatically sync completed workouts to Garmin Connect. This should be a no brainer, many of us use Garmin Connect.

Hello,
my heart rate from the Ergobike is not suggested in the connection options, but my smart trainer and cadence are, perhaps this can be improved. Does TrainingPeaks Virtual fully support BLE FTMS?
What would be even more important to me is that TrainingPeaks Virtual connects well with Garmin and that the training session is displayed in Garmin as a load value, because otherwise my training load is not correct and all the recommendations are no longer useful.
It would be great if these two weak points could be fixed.
Regards,

The only reason I am not fully committed to TP Virtual at this time is its lack of integration with Garmin Connect. I realize that is likely a Garmin API issue but with competitors like Zwift automatically uploading rides to Garmin it becomes a major hassle to have to try workarounds. All of my other devices and metrics are contained within the Garmin ecosystem and I would like to stay that way.

Sort this forum by "Top Comments" and you will see this has already been asked multiple times, and as Gerrie mentioned is a Garmin issue, not a TPV issue.
That said, I am curious if TPV has investigated using the existing TrainingPeaks connection as leverage an requesting to be updated to allow activities to be written from TPV to GC. Currently it allows reading of activities from GC to TP and read/write of workouts both ways.

I've thought about it several times. That would be enormously important.

This will be a make/break for a lot of users. We need to be able to sync to Garmin.

This is a restriction by Garmin, currently Garmin does not allow any new 3rd party to integrate.

Virtual Rides should connect with Garmin Connect.

If it's true that this is just in limbo until Garmin does something about it, labeling this "PLANNED" feels a bit misleading. I personally wouldn't consider switching from Zwift unless this was implemented.

Agreed. Thinks it’s great that you can upload Garmin workout results to TP but it’s frustrating you can’t do it the other way around like you can w Zwift. Been using the Garmin UI for a long time now. Would love for my virtual rides to feed Garmin too so when I run or swim w my watch the history is consistent in the Garmin app too. Mostly using TP for the bike workouts.

I havent looked at total time vs ride. I usually jump right on. Another way of saying what I meant is like the fit file exports with no time zone so justhas the australia time stamp. doesnt see it in relation to utc or utc +10. Does the same exporting strava as well so its how it records. Integrated apps can fix it. the manully export/import cannot. It's annoying enough to pay for zwift again when TPV is no longer free. It could just be garmin side not processing data correctly that may be ther. IDK havent dove into the fit file.

I have noted this as well. Often, rides are double counted due to time differences. Seems to be a "ride time" vs. "total time" issue? Total time including any time before actually pedaling, any "breaks," and pausing at the end?

Fix time on virtual rides. The auto upload to trainingpeaks and strava adjust to account for time zone. But when manually exporting the file to garmin connect it sees a time zone from Australia. Requires manually correcting in garmin connect. This of course is after training peaks views it as a new garmin activity and sync's another copy there as well requiring deletion. All time zone settings are set correct as far as I can tell on all platform. It's like the raw file from trainingpeaks virtual is locked to GMT +10 and only apps with direct integration can account for it.

@Jamie Bishop. TrainingPeaks already has a connection agreement with Garmin, but that sends workouts to Garmin and pulls activities from Garmin. Surely there is a way to leverage this existing connection to allow activities to be sent to Garmin?

For that to happen, Garmin would need to give TPV access to the API, a now subset of their direct competitor in the analysis and workout department, TrainingPeaks. In other words, it’s not dependent on TP/TPV.
