Automatic progression to next workout
I’d like to suggest an enhancement to the strength training functionality in the web and mobile apps, specifically around tracking and applying progression in exercises.
Currently, I can plan a workout (e.g. for specific body parts) by entering exercise, sets, reps, and weights. After completing the workout—including warm-up sets and working sets —I manually update the actual values used, especially for the working sets, where I push close to muscular failure to stimulate hypertrophy.
While the app does store these updated values and I can review my progression manually, it would be incredibly helpful if the next time I schedule the same exercise, the app could automatically suggest the most recently completed values(sets, reps, and weight) as a baseline. This would save time, encourage consistency, and support structured progressive overload, which is a cornerstone of effective strength and hypertrophy training.
Ideally, this could even include logic that highlights when performance improved or declined, or prompts slight increases in weight or volume when previous sessions were successfully completed.
This feature would:
• Support more efficient planning and training
• Encourage consistent progression
• Align with evidence-based strength training principles
• Improve the app’s utility for intermediate to advanced lifters following structured programs
Thank you very much for considering this request—I truly believe it would add great value to the TrainingPeaks platform for all strength-focused athletes.
