Heart Rate Variability As TP Metric
Please include heart rate variability (HRV) as a TP metric. Many people use HRV. Yes, I realize that some people have some skepticism about HRV, but that shouldn't matter on the issue of including it as an available TP metric. Those who want to use HRV can; those who don't can ignore it (just the same as for all other TP metrics). Thanks.
An update to our iOS app that adds HRV to the list of supported metrics was released today. It may take 24 hours until Apple prompts you to install the update, so keep watch for it. There are numerous other UX updates to the app that we hope you will like too.
Our Android app will be updated towards the end of next week. That update will include support for HRV. Once the Android app is released, we will mark this feature request as completed. Thank you all for your patience, I know it took us a long time to get to this point.
We have been working with HRV app developers to save HRV data directly to your TrainingPeaks account. So far the SweetBeat HRV app has been updated and released. The HRV Plus app should be updated soon along with a few others that we will announce once they are ready. If you would like the app that you use to measure HRV to save to TrainingPeaks, then please send this page to the app developer and ask them to contact us. We have reached out to a developers, but it is better when they hear from the customers directly.
One powerful feature of our mobile apps is the ability to graph metrics on your PMC. Adding HRV to your PMC may help see you identify trends in your training and recovery. This blog post talks about how to customize your charts on mobile:

I would endorse being able to upload ithelete HRV to my training peaks metrics

If anything a dash board chart to compare TSB and HRV, or PMC metrics against any/all metrics would be nice.

is there a timeline for adding this metric? in generelt TP seems to be VERY slow at adoption new features and has been for some years now!:. kinda disapointing

Are there any updates on this? I would like for any sort of random metric to be tracked in the PMC. Even tracking sleep, steps, weight, or a host of other metrics may provide insight into how training / resting can be optimized.

i'm just revisiting to second the idea that Scott and Jeremy propose that HRV would be visible (optionally) from the PMC as an adjunct to TSB

I also agree that HRV should be added as a new metric. I record this value every morning and find it to be a much accurate indicator of overtraining as compared to RHR.
Also the ability to add custom metrics would be nice too. Another idea to build on this would be the ability to pull the data from apps like Sweetbeat which measure HRV.

intregration betweeen these two would be good to see

Please create a metric for standing heart rate. One measure of fatigue is the trend of resting/standing HR. See Eddie Borysewicz, Bicycle Road Rading (http://amzn.to/1cb7Nyx).

I would really love this feature. The less manual entry, the better. 3 votes from me!

I agree, just ordered an ithlete after using my brother's a little bit, great biofeedback and insight into true fatigue. I would love to see this integrated into TP as part of the TSB calculation as others have already requested, an uploadable device file to be placed in daily metrics secondary to working into TSB, or short both of the previous, at the very least have a "HRV" numerical field (not the sliders) added to metrics!

I have been using and collecting data with ithlete with myself and all my athletes across 5 different sports for quite a while the information that ithlete gives the athlete and coach on recovery status is far better and far more accurate the the TSB in the PMC. There are now lierally 100's of reseach papers that prove the validity of HRV as measurement of recovery status in athletes. Right now I am using a metric that allows a number and the Pulse metric and have to view them separately would be awesome to have it right in the PMC.

This would be a match made in heaven IMHO. Every training equipment purchase I've made in the last couple years has been influenced by its compatibility with TP except for iThlete which is just such a valuable tool that I'm willing to put up with the fact its not integrated. But if it was possible to track HRV from iThlete in TP then that would just be very convenient & another step towards realising the vision of TP as a unified & comprehensive dashboard for tracking health & fitness.
