Allow for More Sport Types
When selecting a workout type, it would be great to have an 'indoor bike' option. To use clearly as an indication to athletes to complete the session on an indoor trainer, rather than out on the road.
Thank you for the feedback. This is a common request and has been added to that project’s feedback.
Future opportunities have not been added to our road map yet, but we are actively collecting feedback which contributes to the prioritization process. We do not want to set up false expectations and want to make sure that there is awareness that this update currently is not prioritized and does not have an ETA.

I would love to have the ability for user defined Activity Type. In looking through the comments, there are a handful of requests for activity types (hiking, yoga, etc.). I am a nordic ski coach, and while xc-skiing is an option, for us to get good detail in the reports having the ability to split up on snow skiing vs. roller skiing, as well as skiing by technique, would be extremely valuable.
Instead of having the whole list of items pre-defined, allowing for user defined Activity types would be great.

Right now, when I bike on gravel (usually category 2 or 3), my trainer has me list my ride as MTB. This doesn't feel accurate, but neither does road cycling. Gravel has become so popular (it is about 50% of my own training), I really think it should be its own category.

Hello,
I've been using TP for a long time as a coach.
I find the platform really easy to use, it's great.
My question: On Garmin devices, the athlete can choose from a wide range of disciplines, but on Trainingpeaks I can't plan in the same disciplines.
I'm asking you to open sub-categories because, for example, for Ski XC, I need..:
- Classic wheel ski
- Ski wheel skate
- Ski double push wheel
- Classic cross-country skiing
- Cross-country skate
This is very important for performance analysis. I need to be able to easily quantify the load in these different disciplines. Thanks for future updates
Best regards
M.Lovis

Can you please add Elliptical as a work out mode? When you can run due to an injury, doing the session on an elliptical trainer is super helpful.

Can you do biathlon workout, because right now only XC-skiing

Are there any plans to add kayaking as a sport? I’m suspect there are plenty of folks paddling as part of their multi sports.

Not only making this a mode, but offering additional sport thresholds to be set. I train motorsports athletes and they have a specific threshold higher than biking and running. I would like to be able to set different parameters for their primary sport.

Hello, I'm a runner. I'm curious if there's a way to log different types of running activities such as trail running, treadmill training, and road running separately. This would help me analyze the training load on different platforms more effectively.

including options to have separate settings for this training environment such as reduced FTP, etc.

Please add "Paddle sports" category, Thanks

Please add a paddle sports specific category to your main stream tracking selections, rather than grouping under "Other." This would be of great benefit to our outrigger canoeing community, as well as other paddle sports athletes looking to refine and monitor our personal performance. Thank you for considering this application improvement.
Sincerely,David Thomas, aka Tuna

I am an outrigger paddling coach and have 34 athletes (and counting) that I manage through trainingpeaks. Most of my athletes use the activities Kayak, standup up paddling, canoeing, paddling, or a similar activity.
This is our core sport, but the problem is that these activities all roll up under "Other." However Other acts like a catch all, so Yoga, surfing, or any other activities my athletes due to cross train (or fun) all show up under "Other." This creates a challenge to isolate our core sport and analyze mileage, TSS, duration, etc.
My solve to this has been to use "Custom" but then the completed workouts don't automatically sync with he planned workouts. I initially thought this would not be an issue, but it has turned out to be a BIG issue. My athletes are frustrated, and I am getting a lot of extra work training the athletes on syncing the workouts.
I can recommend 2 solves for this. And I would love to see Both!
1. Add an activity "Paddle Sports." This would be great for surf skis, outrigger, kayakers, stand up, K1, canoeing, paddle boarding, etc.
2. Make "Customs" more custom by adding a setting where users can assign an activity to be mapped to it. For example, since outrigger is my athlete's core sport in settings if my athletes could map "Stand Up Paddle Boarding" to always be labeled as a custom activity then they wouldn't have to worry about it syncing. This solve would support other sports in this same scenario.

I am hoping that you could add another type of event for cross country skiing. we have dryland and on snow. If you could add a dryland with the following events road skiing - classic, road skiing - skate and road skiing - sit ski that would address the needs for the Paralympic and Olympic streamed athletes.

I wish to add a custom workout type name for use with the personal dashboard and charts. ie skimo/ski tour, climbing, etc. I am aware of the 'custom' and 'other' types, though these are not quite what I desire.
Most of my activities only roughly fit into the preset workout types and then I need to remember that 'xc ski' really means skimo training or 'strength' really means climbing. It's not very useful when the fitness summary: completed duration pie chart shows 60% 'other'. Just a minor inconvenience. More than satisfied otherwise!
Cheers!

Whilst kayaking, SUP, surf ski etc might be individually a bit niche, a paddle sports workout type would benefit multi-sporters and paddlers would make quick visual checks of calendars, breakdowns etc so much nicer

Can you add a trainer option for activity type? Reasoning being that most people have different power output on smart trainers and it would be nice to have accurate history of your power records while on trainer. Currently i have to use “MTB” as my trainer and then include my MTB power numbers with my gravel and road bike numbers. It would be much more accurate if these could be in their proper categories

Create a "gravel" and "fatbike" option under "type of event." It's time.

There needs to be a recovery selection with massage, yoga, Sauna, plunge, Cryo, running underneath for recovery days and activities. Any low energy workouts for flexibility, stretching or light cardio could be selected.

Hi, thanks for offering such great training tool. I dont think alone on this and hopefully this is being regarded by TP; to add more activity modes. Im thinking specifically about ski touring in this case. The "Snow" icon in my opinion too generic, as it`d be helpful for a large number of users to be able to distinguish eg XC, skate XC, skimo and ski touring.
Thank you.

Both workouts are fairly common in endurance fitness training plans>
The addition of these categories would be helpful to coaches and athletes alike. Gamin, Android, Withings, Fitbit, Apple, and other products use these as workouts on their wearable products, and Strava (plus other Fitness tracking apps) support the workout type as well.
