iPad TPV 3.9 will not connect to any servers
iPad TPV 3.9 will not connect to any servers. I get a message saying could not connect to any servers could be because you aren't on the latest version. I am on the latest version. It is 3.9 that was released yesterday. Come on folks...
1 voteMany thanks for letting us know about this, and your support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
The latest version is v0.4.19 so it looks like you're still using a (very) old version of indieVelo, and not TrainingPeaks Virtual. If you uninstall indieVelo and install the latest version of TrainingPeaks Virtual, then everything should work as expected.

Make TPVirtual available as a stand alone. (I have no need for anything else that a premium subscription includes. I just want TPV)
Separate lower subscription rate for TPV only with no other add-ons
2 votesMany thanks for your suggestion and support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
As has already been noted in the comments, TrainingPeaks Premium membership already offers ridiculously good value as-is. Even if you never use anything but TrainingPeaks Virtual, then you're still getting an amazing deal for just $125 / year if you buy now.

UserName Display
The Display Name on TrainingPeaks Virtual when riding is never my name which should be synced across from my TP Premium account - it seems to be randomised as it's different each time I log in. Is this a known bug? It's occurred since the last couple of releases.
thanks - Jim

As noted, this is the correct behaviour for incognito mode, where your name is deliberately randomised.

On trainingpeaks virtual. increased grade for heavy cyclists makes you travel at 1.0 MPH. Doing charity rides for distance.
Grade calculation/adjustment: 150 FTP and 130kg means riding at 1.0mph uphill. I'm riding for charity attempting to accumulate miles indoors and out. Hard to ride indoors when elevation causes me to ride 1.0 mph. Don't have 300 hours to ride in a month.

For better, or for worse, TrainingPeaks Virtual uses an accurate physics model for the movement of bicycles in the application. This means that your speed indoors will match your speed outdoors, and on steep inclines that means going slowly.
If you want to accumulate virtual miles, then we strongly recommend riding on the flatter areas of the island. For example, the "Forest Velodrome" route is perfectly flat with no hills at all, and the "Coastal Loop" route is mostly flat. You can also sort all the routes in-app using the filters at the top of the "Ride" tab of the main menu, to show them in order of their average gradient so you can easily see which routes to pick!

Balance on watt bike
Balance/ smoothness doesn't come through from my wattbike atom.
1 voteMany thanks for your suggestion and support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
TrainingPeaks Virtual just displays whatever data that your trainer / powermeter is broadcasting. If smoothness and effectiveness aren't being shown, it is because your device doesn't send that data to TPV. As such, this is something that you would need to take up with Wattbike to get them to broadcast that information.

Erg Mode Resistance/Power readings incorrect
Since the new update (March 9th 2025) the erg mode resistance/power readings on my planned workouts have been incorrect where I am pushing harder than I would usually to maintain the same power and I am unable to finish workouts. This was using a JetBlack Volt trainer. I have done the same workouts in the previous week with no issues so I know it’s not a fitness problem so wanted to raise the issue here in case others are hitting the same issue. The readings from my trainer and the power meter (estimated power) are also substantially different which wasn’t…
1 voteMany thanks for letting us know about this, and your support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
Note that nothing changed in this area in that release, so more likely than not this is an issue with the hardware, and not the software.
That said, please feel free to reach out to the support team (virtual@trainingpeaks.com) who may be able to help you with this.

Increase Climbing Rating Importance for Races with Significant Climbs
Summary:
When calculating event ratings for races that include categorized climbs (Cat 4, Cat 3, Cat 2, Cat 1, or HC), the algorithm should place substantially more weight on a rider's climbing rating rather than relying heavily on TT and Endurance ratings. This would create more balanced competition in hilly/mountainous races.Problem:
Currently, the event rating system appears to favor Time Trial and Endurance abilities in any longer race, even in races with significant climbing. This leads to several issues: Climbers with lower overall ratings but strong climbing abilities are placed in lower pens than appropriate. Larger/heavier riders with strong…4 votesDeleting as requested, and will track this issue under the other suggestion you raised!

Fit file is correct, activity history, TrainingPeaks and Stava activity are not
The Fit file in the TrainingPeaks Virtual folder shows my actual ride over an hour on March 10, 2025. In TrainingPeaks Virtual under Profile/Activity History, however, there is only a ride of 7m 06 s over 1.6 km. This was also sent to TrainingPeaks and Strava. If I manually import the Fit file from the TrainingPeaks Virtual folder to TrainingPeaks and Strava, the actual ride is included. What happened? That shouldn't happen.
1 voteMany thanks for letting us know about this, and your support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
The most likely explanation for this is that you experienced internet issues while riding and went into offline mode. This meant that your computer was unable to send information about your ride to TrainingPeaks Virtual's servers - hence why they show a shorter ride than what you actually did.
We are already looking at how to re-sync data after any loss in connectivity (and there's another user voice suggestion that covers this too),

Wrong power meter value
Today (first time after 4 mounths usage) the power meter value reports unrealistic values when cadence is lower 50rpm. Yesterday everything worked was fine as well (I mean smartrainer and powermeter were mathing each other).
I don't think a smartrainer failure. Available for further clarification.1 voteMany thanks for letting us know about this, and your support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
The values displayed in TrainingPeaks Virtual are just the data values that are broadcast by your equipment - so if the values are wrong, it's because your equipment is miscalibrated, and not anything to do with TrainingPeaks Virtual.

Offset
I have 2 powermeters one in the smart trainer and one garmin in my pedals. The power gap between them can be 30w. I have tried to use tpv with the garmin powermeter as reference but had a bumpy experience in terms of ease to ride and getting the right feeling. I would like you to add a c9mmand offset so i can use my smart trainer features with a closer data to my garmin
1 voteMany thanks for your suggestion and support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
Whilst this might seem like a good idea, it would be merely a sticking plaster over the actual underlying issue - that your trainer and powermeter are calibrated differently (and/or inaccurate). It would be far better to resolve the actual issue, than simply cover it up.

Data Accurate and Setup
Hello Trainingpeaks Team
As a premium user of your platform, I have started using TrainingPeaks Virtual, but I am concerned about the data obtained during training.
For example, I have a 1 Hour Z2 training on the calendar that is equal to 45TSS and .67 IF
However, I finish the training and I am below that data.
between 5% for TSS and 3% for IFNow if I do the same training only with my smart trainer + garmin the data is correct.
That is the reason why I do not usually use Virtual TP for training but only for…

This is something best resolved through discussion with the TrainingPeaks support team (virtual@trainingpeaks.com), so if you email them then they should be able to help work through this with you to find out where the discrepancy is coming from.

Issues with Watt bike Pro pedal smoothness & Effectiveness don't work
Enjoying the new Virtual but is it possible to understand why this doesn't work I haven't found a pro user who can make this integrate?
Alternative is to just use the watt bike hub and then it makes TP virtual pointless.
1 voteMany thanks for your suggestion and support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
Smoothness and Effectiveness are parameters that are calculated by the powermeter device and only transmitted by the device over ANT+. They are not supported by the Bluetooth protocol, so not available to TrainingPeaks Virtual to display, if you connect using Bluetooth.
If you connect over ANT+, then it will all work as expected.

Cost. Subscription to only Training Peaks Virtual vs Train Training Peaks Premium
I see that the website indicates that in April a Subscription to TP premium is required to use TP virtual.
Will there be a subscription option for non-analytical types that just want to ride for fun and health?2 votesMany thanks for your suggestion and support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
It is worth noting that the price of TrainingPeaks Premium membership (approximately $10 / month when bought annually) is around half the price of other platforms. So even if you never use any of the other TrainingPeaks features, and just ride TrainingPeaks Virtual for fun / health, then it's already incredible value for money.
Of course, we think that you'll like the TrainingPeaks Premium features as well, and it will therefore be a truly outstanding deal, but even if you don't, it's still an amazing deal that's far better than you would get anywhere else!

ANT+ dropouts
Compared to Zwift, TrainingPeaks Virtual has a significant amount of dropouts. I've only used TP Virtual intermittently, but every time it is froth with dropouts. Using macOS with the ANT+ stick directly under the Tacx Neo 2T trainer, but with Assioma DUO power meter pedals.
5 votesMany thanks for your suggestion and support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
ANT+ dropouts are a result of signal interference between your trainer and your computer - nothing to do with TrainingPeaks Virtual. We appreciate that other platforms don't tell you when your signal drops out and just covers the issue up so you don't notice, but that doesn't mean that it's not happening!
To resolve the issue you will need to improve the quality of the connection between your trainer and computer. This can be done by repositioning the transmitter / receiver to be closer together, or by adding shielding around them so that interfering signals from other sources (e.g. a neighbour using their microwave) are blocked.

Ramp Test premature stop
Today I attempted a Ramp Test, but at roughly 80% of my max it suddenly stopped. It gave me my FTP value and went into cooldown mode. But I certainly wasn't done and still had a cadence of 93 at the moment of cutting out.
What could have caused this? I wanna try again tomorrow but I want to be sure it doesn't happen again. My previous estimated FTP in TPV was 253 due to never having gone all out and it cut out at 258w estimated FTP today. Does that have anything to do with it? I'd assume I…
1 voteMany thanks for letting us know about this, and your support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
The reason for a ramp-test stopping will be in the log file for your ride. If you reach out to Custtomer Support (virtual@trainingpeaks.com) they can help you with this.

Previously reported issue of TPV and Kickr ... From start of structured workout, TPV won't maintain correct power.
From first minute of a structured workout, TPV hits the target power momentarily then drops to about 50-70W and swings wildly up and down. Regret system unworkable.
2 votesMany thanks for letting us know about this and your support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
This isn't an issue that other users are seeing, and therefore it is most likely to be a configuration or hardware issue, rather than a bug with TrainingPeaks Virtual. Can you please reach out to Customer Support (virtual@trainingpeaks.com) who may be able to help you resolve this, and we'll close tracking this as a separate issue here.

bug report
a workout does not give me option to save. button is greyed out. does not upload to strava
1 voteMany thanks for your message, and support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
From looking at the log file, the upload was blocked because the name given included a phrase that's not appropriate for posting publicly (though we of course appreciate the sentiment you felt at the workout!).
If you use a different title for the workout, without any profanity, then it will allow you to upload it...

Cadence
I use a power meter for recording cadence and power but I get loads of cadence dropouts so the watts also drop. Need to improve the connectivity of cadence to prevent dropouts.
1 voteMany thanks for letting us know about this, and your support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
Dropouts are nearly always a result of radio-interference in your room (i.e. the Bluetooth signal from your device to your computer is swamped with noise from other sources - perhaps someone running a microwave oven nearby etc).
As such, this isn't anything that can be fixed in TrainingPeaks Virtual, and instead is something that would need to be addressed by positioning your devices and computer in a way that doesn't get impacted as much by your environment.

Cannot Detect Sensors w/Remote Desktop Also Open
Whilst Windows remote desktop is open and I'm connected to another computer, but with TP virtual running locally, it cannot detect any sensors, bluetooth or ANT+. When remote desktop is closed/disconnected, it detects sensors.
1 voteMany thanks for letting us know about this, and your support for TrainingPeaks Virtual.
This isn't a generic issue with Remote Desktop (we use it all the time while TPV is running without any issues!), so I strongly suspect there is something else going on here specific to your configuration on your computer.
Feel free to reach out to Customer Support (virtual@trainingpeaks.com), but my best guess is that you've set Remote Desktop up in a way that intercepts the Bluetooth signals at a stack level, and pipes them over the network, so that TPV never even sees them, rather than this being anything to do with TPV itself.
