Enable sync of self evaluation data from Garmin Connect
Garmin recently updated some of their Forerunner devices to enable users to enter Self Evaluation data during the save of the activity just completed. Two values are asked for: perceived effort (scale: 0-10) and how you felt (5 point scale from Very Weak to Very Stong).
These seem to map directly to what TrainingPeaks has had as an activity setting for years already.
Is there any plan in place to automatically set the values in TrainingPeaks during sync of activity data from Garmin Connect?
This sure would make life easier for TrainingPeaks users who are also Garmin device users (a large user set I suspect). I do realize that this is dependent upon Garmin exposing that information in either the .TCX or .FIT files/data that is transferred during sync operations between TrainingPeaks and Garmin Connect.
Hey friends!
We enabled the Garmin<>TP self-evaluation integration earlier this week so your data should be flowing nicely. No more double entering RPE/Feel! Happy training.

We need this so badly - its the best time to obtain this info - right after the workout.

This is the same request but with more votes, if anyone wants to move their vote: https://peaksware.uservoice.com/forums/106657-trainingpeaks-customer-feedback/suggestions/43582887-enable-sync-of-self-evaluation-data-from-garmin-co
That said, despite what people say in other places, as of February 2024, I agree with Carlos, I can't actually confirm that the survey results are in the .FIT file sent to TrainingPeaks which if true would make it a lot more work as, like Stuart says, it would have to be grabbed from the API and I don't think that Garmin sends anyone push notifications after the activity is initially uploaded. Same reason edited/added activity titles don't sync over :(

This is absolutely critical. I have my Edge and Forerunner both set to ask for my RPE and self-evaluation when I save my ride. I am sure TrainingPeaks understands this is the best possible time to answer those questions. Since I've already answered, and it's in the data being uploaded, please process and include it!
Edit: sadly it may not be in the .FIT file sent to TrainingPeaks. I'm looking at several of mine and trying to verify that it's there and haven't found it yet...sadly Garmin might be saving it elsewhere and not sending it :(

Yeah, it would be good to sync this. Stryd also started syncing this from Garmin recently too

The values are definitely included in the Garmin FIT file - some TP competitors already are doing exactly what is requested here. It should be pretty easy to implement this as TrainingPeaks just needs to read the respective fields from the FIT file.

Are the RPE and Feeling metrics available through the Garmin API? If so, it seems like getting the data that a user has submitted right on their watch as they complete their workout would be more accurate than something entered in TP app a long while (or hours) after the workout.

I wonder if this was ever looked at from TP?

Garmin don't send the RPE rating in FIT File :(

I don't think Garmin send that RPE Rating in the file, to be loaded in TP side.

I believe Garmin already does expose this information, so it’s on TP to bring it into the platform! https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/running-multisport/f/forerunner-945/265419/enable-transmission-of-self-evaluation-data-perceived-effort-how-did-you-feel-through-sync-with-other-training-sites

So with the new updates from Garmin for their 245,745, 945 (and Fenix?)
After finishing a prescribed workout - the watch are now asking for the precevied effort and how you felt - I understand these new values are stored / saved within the .fit file.
Could TP look at importing these new values and matching to the values stored on TP workouts?
