Structure workouts based on specific Zones
It would be a good option to be able to choose specific zones for an athlete when building a workout in the Workout builder.
This could then be chosen from a drop-down menu for the sport-specific zones an athlete has (either based off HR or Pace/power).

Can't find zones in workout builder. See from the comments that some say it is available, but others (like me) can't find it. Can anyone please confirm whats correct? If its available, please give a detailed instruction on how to find it...
edit:
I found it! If you add a new workout from the calendar-view (click + on a specific day), the dropdown is visible. If you go through Workout library (top left) and tap "+" its not there. Probably a bug?! -

Thanks for the update - really useful to be able to create workouts based on zones now!

How I can use it?

Not seeing anything yet. :(

This is critical and surprising it wasn't a feature from the beginning. Setting HR zones based on percentages is ineffective. Being able to set custom HR zones per the individual athlete, but program workouts based on set zones and time/distance seems like it is a basic feature. Please hurry. I've been waiting for years for this.

The zones are available and it even uses them when you enter the percentage. Why not just make zones available as in the web app.
Two dropdown menu's one targeting the lower bound zone, the other targeting the higher bound.

WE NEED THIS !!!

You can do this already.

There should be the manual option of adjusting zones within training peaks such that workouts aren't strictly structured off of ftp %

In others apps, this option is possible. Come on!

Is there any update on this? I am a new subscriber and not being able to build workouts by selecting the zones I built in the settings is painful. As a result I've had to create a spreadsheet to reference when I build workouts. I signed up for TrainingPeaks hoping to get away from using spreadsheets to build my training plan.

I would love this feature. It would make creating my workouts 10 times faster and easier

this is what we need, since we already had set zones for the athletes, we should be able to use those zones as units in the builder

In the workout builder I can select different units to describe workout intensitiy, like "rating of perceived exertion", "threshold heart rate" etc.
However, the zones are most often also defined in percentage of the unit I select most often (for instance pace, maximum heart rate, threshold heart rate etc. ) and in most trainings I want to work in one or two defined zones.
So it would be nice, if the zones I defined could be selected as "units", so that I would be able to simply adjust workout intensitiy by entering the particular segment number of the zone I selected.
As examples:
Unit: Running-Zone, Segment 4 (sub-threshold)or
Unit: Bike-Zone, Segment 5c (super-threshold)
Of course, by uploading the defined training to for instance a training monitor, there must be an automatic conversion to heart rate beats, power, pace, or whatever it is, I want to measure.

Allow mixed Intensity unit in work out builder.
it appears you can only build a report using one unit.
I often want to mix multiple units.
Warm up in x heart rate zone (yes specific zone, not manual range), and then run specific pace intensity, then cool down in a heart rate zone. -

Yeah please include it! I want to start using WKO5 ilevels, it's really painfull to set 9(!) different levels manually. In case you lack of space in the icon area of the workout builder (superscript "click or drag blocks to build workout"), one option could be in the drop-down menu of a positioned where you can choose Warm up / Work / Recover / Cool down. This could be easiliy extended by zone names given by the customer. Or elsewhere.

This will be very helpfully, if the athletes has made an individual power performance test and the zones do not match with the predefined zones.

Agree. I don't think about %s when setting up a workout but that I need to spend 10 minutes in Z2, then 2 minutes Z6, then 3 minutes Z2, etc. Since TP knows my percentages (regardless of method used) then would be simpler way to create a program. I don't spend any time discussing percentages with other athletes, rather what zones we're working in.

I concur. This would be PERFECT, and seems very simple to do.
