How can we improve TrainingPeaks?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Allow coaches to protect/retain their IP

    Athletes may now unlink from a coach and take all of the workouts, notes, data etc… that a coach has spent considerable time on with them before the coach has a chance to protect their intellectual property and work. This is especially concerning when the coach pays to upgrade to premium but can then lose their IP without having a say in the matter. Additionally coaches can no longer reference workouts, training blocks, tapers, power files etc… that may be of benefit for the coach to have in the future.

    For coaches that are not simply copying and pasting training…

      First introduced in my book RACING WEIGHT, the Diet Quality Score (DQS) is a simple tool that enables athletes to objectively monitor and systematically improve the overall quality of their diet. A DQS app is now available for iPhones and Androids. The growing number of TrainingPeaks athletes using it would no doubt appreciate being able to upload their app date to TrainingPeaks!

        I would like to be able to select one or more workouts and share them with my friend accounts, when sharing I can choose either to leave captured data in or share only description and planned data.

        That way its easier to share workouts.

            Hi,

            Would it be possible to have a chart on the dashboard which showed net calories per day/week/month (that is, calories consumed minus calories burned)?

            At the moment I can only get a chart showing calories expended and calories consumed.

            • Add alcohol consumption to metrics

              Hi

              Ive recently discovered that consuming large quantities of alcohol the night before a training session affects my form in said training session. Further to this shocking development i would like to add it as a performance metric.

              Being serious i would like to see the impact of no alcohol, some alcohol & excess alcohol on subsequent training sessions so would be grateful if this could be added to your metrics or even allow some user defined metrics.

              • ATP Running durations longer than "2+ hours" for ultra endurance athletes.

                Ultra runners routinely run longer than "2+ hours," and it would be helpful to have the option to chose longer ATP durations than are currently available.

                • Add post-workout snapshot of workout map & graph view

                  Whenever I get a summary post-workout e-mail notification from TP.com with one of my athletes' workouts there's some information that could be present to speed up my analysis process. For example, it would be nice to include a snapshot of the workout map & graph view. Based on this I could decide whether or not to go for a deeper analysis. Currently, your summary data gives me no idea whether they completed their prescribed intervals or not. Also, please add a way to add a comment directly from that summary e-mail that would record my reply at tp.com and send…

                      When designing bike workouts with a power meter, intervals are defined as a percentage of FTP (FTP%). When it comes to reviewing workouts you only get absolute watts displayed.

                      I struggle to remember by own watt zones, especially after a recent FTP change, and it becomes even harder when managing multiple athletes but I do know what workout interval FTP% should be.

                          When TrainingPeaks sends an email notifying an athlete of an increased Threshold Heart Rate Value it should specify which sport this impacts.

                          For example, if I on June 4, I went for a morning bike ride and an afternoon run. I may receive the attached email and not know which sport's Threshold value should change.

                            I would like to have the planned time for a workout included on the email notification. I think it would be a useful addition to add that plus then I can easily auto-forward those emails so my partner know when I should be training that day.

                            • Export 0watt blocks as FreeRide segments to Zwift

                              Using free-ride segments in Zwift is often used for short max efforts. Now its not possible to export certain blocks as a free-ride segment i.s.o. a steady-state segment. This means you still need to edit the workout in Zwift.

                              A solution would be that a block set to 0 watt would be exported to a free-ride segment for a Zwift workout.

                                  Add a notification option to athlete "when coach makes changes to plan." - sometimes my coach will change my plan after the week starts and I won't know until I get to the workout and see that it's different, making me think that I'm crazy, ("I could've sworn that was a 4h ride for Saturday and yet it's now a 2h ride on plan.") Other team members have expressed the same surprise.

                                    I would love for the workout overlay to be able to move each section of the workout to overlay the actual data. Right now you can "only" move the overlay as a single block, which means that if the rider for some reason has a longer break between intervals all "sections" thereafter are ascrew.

                                      The daily emails that come though to athletes has no line breaks in the workout details making it really difficult to read.

                                      Line breaks are shown in both the webiste and app, so please include them in the email too.

                                      • Improve accuracy of NGP on hills

                                        As it is today, NGP accounts for hills -- up or down -- by adjusting NGP up when climbing, and adjusting down when descending. However, TrainingPeaks currently applies equal and opposite adjustments for equal up/down grades. That means if you climb and descend the same hill, NGP will be the same as if you just ran flat. That's incorrect. In the real world, if you run up a 6% grade, you burn more energy than the energy you save running down a 6% grade.

                                          Allow Best Bike Split Aero Analyzer to add CdA points to the FIT file so that the information can be either manually or automatically re-imported to training peaks and athletes can make notes about sections of the workout which were particularly good/bad from an aero perspective and then compare over time how the athlete is improving their aero position.
